Pitt Phyton

40" Pitts Phyton Biplane - by Tim H. RCG

update 200709 (vid attached) - see end of post.

Its has been long im dreaming to have my own diy foamy biplane. and after sometimes, seeing my fellow rcer's phyton bring me to the level which i cant hold it back anymore

My inspiration - Syma76

Extra 330-3D

EXTRA 330-3D (update : 04/08 - new vid attached. see end of post)

Yet i find some times to build this simple airplane out of depron. i've kept the plan for so long until last two weeks when my fellow rcer bring his to the field. all this while, all my flying is just for fun. now i'm thinking going into some skill flying. and this is mine ... not going for the look tho, just a quick build.

Sonic Consideration of a Rotating Body

Kwn bukan trying nak hijack thread kat URC http://www.umranrc.com/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=2726&rowstart=0. tapi considering this is one interesting topic, kwn decide tuk simpan info ni kat blog ni tuk rujukan masa hadapan.

Center of Pressure

Ini actually petikan thread kat umranrc. nak mengelakkan maklumat tu ilang. kwn nak rekod kat sini. Center of Gravity kwn tau, tapi ni Center of Presure. Ape mender tu?

Simple RC Plane Design

update 5/13/09 - new vid : see end of post.

once i'm moved by bmnf stick design, and it really inspired me in learning how to build my corostick. but with my corostick although i'm loving flying it, its to big for me to be carry around. and now im thinking about building another stick :).

this time it have to be light if it gonna be small. i'll keep posting all my calculation and consideration in this post so others can learn as well.

Esky Nemo

Hi guys. Wanna share some mod and settings that I’ve made to my e-sky nemo airplane. some that u guys might find useful and some I do just for experimental purpose or just for fun. This plane is a nice foam plane, although the made are not so scale looking, but by using epp as building material, this is one tough plane for someone who crash a lot. And I mean crash not loose it. If you loose it, just buy another one .[@more@]

My CorozagiV2

Update 3/23/09 - see end of post.

My first prototype of corozagi can be consider successful although im doing kfm2 the wrong way. so, as for this V2 im planning on using kfm4 for its airfoil. which is reviewed to have much lift with speed in mind. but as the build needs more coro, im expecting for some additional weight.

How I Do Things

update 4/29/09 - TX STAND (see end of post)

here i'll share some of my experience and experiment on doing thing in scratch build. you can call it tips n tricks what so ever. my point is just to share what i know. related to depron n coroplast build. you're welcome to share some as well ... just put it in comment area.

Personal Videographer

ever wanna record ur flight but no one to help u with. or if there is someone, u dont trust him/her enough to help u. tired of missing a shots or aircraft out of frame? if so, u might wanna try this. worked if u r using a digital camera to record ur flight.

My Corozagi V1

update 2/10/09 end of this post:

Last week is quite disappointed as my plan for remaiden of my sukhoi had to be postponed. as well as the rebuild long ez which i bring for re re remaiden. however spending times with fellow rcers never bored me, as with people of same interest gathering, there are always something to chat about. that what makes hobbies (not only rc) so speacial.

ParkJets

Some of parkjet collection that i've found interesting to give it a try (complete discussion and plan). just wanna share. may it move you to build one and share the build as well as your setup.

My SU-37

UPDATE (2/15/09) - check end of post.

i once said, im gonna stick with coro. but what i found in rcgroups really make me loose my faith in coro when it comes to scale like finishing. i spend almost two weeks going thru the thread on this one particular park jet and decided at the end, i've got to build one of this.

and i did. here some spec on the original jet which if any of u who are interested can browse it further here.

My CoroRaptor

well i actually build this profile parkjet from tomhe.net while ago with my mig-29 fulcorom. the original plan actually meant for 6mm depron, but as i see coroplast/impraboard is much more tough compared to depron (with some weight penalties), i go for it as an alternatif maaterial. but for my limited resources on electronics needed, i just flew my fulcorom and hang my cororaptor waiting for the right time to maiden it.

after a while, i've had it with my fulcorom. i ditch it into the bin, transfer the electronics to my cororaptor. time to maiden ... it turns my setup is not enaugh for the jet.

apex 450 2000kv, 40a esc, 11.1v 1500mah 15c, 6035 (which is actually 7035).

i suspect because of im using a very thin prop, which bend very easily at the tip. somehow its draws to many amp (i think). but i still got couple of nice flight out of it. not much of speed, but it flies ...

Power System

80% corostick kwn da pun siap. in the process, sedikit sebanyak byk gak info berguna yg dpt kwn gather, not just tuk projek nih, tp jugak utk pengetahuan kwn. so kwn nak mention skali lagi pada flyer2 sumer, ‘sedar x yg kita dah terjerat ke dlm hobi yg cukup interesting?! its not all bout flying …’. kalau sebelum nih kita xpenah amik pusing camner heli copter operate, disbbkan hobi nih sedikit sebyk kita tau konsep disebaliknya (terigt dok dpn astro tgu rancangan ‘a chopper is born’ gara-gara tgh gila heli). kalau sebelum nih xpenah amik tau camner org wat kapal terbang, skg kita sendiri build kapal terbang rc ngan konsep2 yg serupa. what a lucky group of people we are to have found this great hobby …

Fuse n CoG

last but not least ... kwn perlukan fuse tuk corostick. so sebab nama pun stick, kwn pun pilih kayu frame tuk jadikan fuse. tapi nak pakai panjang mana ? wing nak letak kat mana? nnt cg dia kat mana? sumer pertanyaan tu kena kwn jwb sendiri. so belayar lagiii (alangkah bertuahnya idup dlm zaman internet nih .... ilmu dihujung jari ).

Control Surface

kwn dah dpt calculation tuk wing corostick. tapi terfikir plak, wing ikut calculation xkan part ekor main potong kot suka hati ja. so kwn make some more research. ni some basic consideration yg kwn dpt.

Dihedral

isu berat kat corostick dah sattle. camne nak tentukan berapa panjang dan lebar wing da sattle.

tapi kat wing stick bmnf kwn tgk ader angle ...  takkan main keapak jer wing tu. so mmg lama dah tau angle tu org panggil dihedral wing. tp kwn xpenah amik tau brapa or mcmana nak tentukan angle dihedral tu.

Wing Aspect Ratio

satu lg consideration bila org nak design plane. (comment kalu salah. please ...)

mende?

wing aspect ratio - nisbah panjang kepada lebar wing.

nisbah ni menentukan respon kapal kita pada roll axis. meaning pusing side to side. kalu slow stick xkan nak roll cam zagi kan?

Wing Loading

kwn idak ler tau banyak sgt pasal rc plane design nih. just basic consideration ja. n atas dasar apa yg kwn nak tau n perlu tau. so apa kwn jumpa masa reasearch tuk corostick rasa syg nak simpan sendiri. baik kongsi kat sini. untung2 ada yg sudi baca.

Where I Fly

this is my regular flying field.

just steps a way ...

keramat au3 (old house). see the field? my house just steps away. this where i fly almost every day after work when i first learning to fly my hbk. i also maiden my first build mig fulcorom n corostick here. see the trees around the field, two of them are my favourite, why? cause i love to climb it to get my plane down.

See Map

EP or GP ?

why i start with ep n till now stick with it?

$$$ ... it would be cheating on myself if i pick a reason other than that.

yup its the main reason when i start. since there's a lot of china goods out there which we can get at a reasonable price. i dont see other reason not to get one, just to have it a try. as a beginner, who never have any exposure what's this hobby is all about, and all alone when it all started, ep is the most tempting choice. however u can guess what happens to a cheapo ... u cant get the satisfaction n quality. so what did u do ... get a new one .

what i see in ep (other reason than the above)? its neat, light, easy to maintain n silent.

neat - no fuss with cleaning before n after flight.

light - most esc+bm/blm mainly weight arround 40g to 100g.

easy - plug there, plug here, then u r set.

silent- try hovering ur gp infront of ur house every day (unless ur neighbours are a mile a way).

furthermore, i've seen many diy modeller dreams came true with ep (in those forums out there). mostly using materials u can find easily and cheap from ur local stationary/art store/hardware.

power? with the tech now days, almost every thing is possible.

maybe i've left some other things, but u get my point (i believe u guys can think of one right now). so till now, i'll stick to ep, as there's so many things i can do with it. go small, go light, enjoy more, any time, any place.

maybe in some ways im biased to ep as i dont do gp. but gp lovers out there, dont get offended, just my 2 cent.

This Hobby 'Manyak Syiok!!'

it is almost a year now that im addicted to this flying hobby . from just flying 2 ch micro heli to 450 size mini titan. from just jumping arround with my hbk2 to circuit with my mini titan. frm flying nemo to building my own version of nitestick. this is one hobby that so many things u can learn and do if u are a diy kind of person. i consider myself as diy person. if flying is the only thing in ur mind, then ur rc world is not as adventures as us diy guys.

look at what happen to my lama v3 and my hbk2.  not that im saying that we should take apart a newly bought rtf, is just that at least now how it works, what to do if somethings happen. there was one time, im playing with my hbk2 mechanical setting (of course it is grounded after that), just to bring it to my lhs and learn how to set it right. besides that, find some time searching the net also helps.

do you know that this hobby you guys in are something very high in technology? an advantage to those with technical background.

do you realize that almost all the technicality in this hobby also can be found in real life application?

the big question is ... why are you getting into this hobby, is it because of the love for only flying what ever u have, or is it because of what you can learn and do with it?

HBK2 Battery Tray Mod

i found this mod on rcg. mini titan style. some how it improves my hbk stability. easy to fix and secure the bty as well. how ever got to put some effort on putting the canopy on.

i use a piece of hardboard, cabletight it to the body.

before:

after:

HBK2 Tail Pulley Mod

on my early days with my hbk2, i kept having promblem with the tail belt keep slipping frm the pulley. hover once, fix once, hover once, fix once. fed up with all the touble, i search for a solution in the net.

the pulley somehow is not low enough to hold the belt in place. so the solution is to lower it. i used a spacer for that.

Adverse Yaw

my build, corostick have teach me a lot on rc plane, more than just flying. with lots of research and asking fellow rcers, is the best way to learn something. here something to share.

My Corostick

Would like to share my experiment with u guys. For who interested to try.

As im a diy person, for me getting a plan or measuring someones build is not giving me the satisfaction. This is my first attempt in simple plane building from scratch. Motivated by BMNF NiteStick. With slow flight and gliding capability make it just for a beginner like me in flying a plane. But due to my interest in coroplast I decide to build mine using one. With some research, calculations and help from fellow fliers my first corostick flies successfully. Seeing my first scratch build flies is priceless. Materials used mostly from my local hardware store like coroplast, woodstick. Spend below rm30 for the build.

I Started Plane

because i started my rc hobby with helicopters, i'm not really into plane. until my friend ie. sifu bring me to this wonderful flying field at batu caves one night. batu muda tambahan nite flying. seeing their nitestick (so i call it) in the night sky, it was breathtaking (paint to the neck also, as they can go high with led's on). as well as their warmth welcome make you feel at home (they are commited too - every friday night). it is something to see a carbon stick with some foam, glue and led's can do.

Heli - My 450

after sometimes (one month), i'm started dreaming for 450 size rc heli. considering budget, parts support, trainning/maintaince support, i've got my self this:

Heli - My 6ch

well ... as u all know, with my v3 lama im really falling into this hobby. as im not much of a hobby person before that.

one month after tinkering n lots of research (lepak at my local hobby store as well), i've got some extra money (not much though) to go for the next step.

Heli - My 4ch

a month after playing with my 3ch heli with no satisfaction, i'm started looking for my next heli to satisfy my new need for control. i'm thinking, should i go bigger or look for a 4ch. after looking here n there at my local toy shop, i decided to go for 4ch. this one cought my eyes as the 'towkey' demonstrates it in front of his store.

Heli - My 3ch

My 3ch Heli notice something on the box ?! "Full 3-D flight!" :) this is my second heli after plying with my 2ch the whole previous month. at this point, i'm still not as excited and interested as i'm now with rc heli. it's just that i wanna try to see if with a bigger one, am i having a better control over it.

Heli - My 2ch

My 2ch Heli
this is my first heli. 2ch (up/down left/right) with infrared tx (need 8x1.5v), 1 cell small rechargeble lipo which can be charge via the tx. charge about 6min, enjoy for 3min.

i'm not even exposed to rc when i first saw this heli. maybe it's destiny.
